Pee Dee GIS Users Group was awarded a CURISA grant for their GIS Day activities. See how they used the funds for their first in-person meeting in 2021!
“Our first in person Pee Dee GIS Users Group Meeting of 2021 was a success. Our group met on Wednesday, November 17th, (GIS DAY!) with 25 people attending the meeting. It was great to get together and get back in touch with our fellow GIS users that we haven’t seen in over a year. The morning began with signing in at the check in table. Then everyone was able to get a breakfast snack and drinks. We heard two educational and informative presentations about the use of geospatial technology. Wayne Brewer and Alison Sengupta from Dominion Energy shared how GIS is used in their daily operations to serve the energy needs of the customers. Adam DeMars GIS Coordinator from the state South Carolina Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office, spoke about multiple GIS projects which included redistricting and the statewide aerial dataset initiative. There was also time in the schedule to network and visit with other members of the group. Everyone enjoyed a box lunch from McAlister’s. The meeting closed with door prizes and an invitation to attend our next meeting, which we hope will be in February of 2022.”
